Description: Baharat is the Arabic word for "spices" (the plural form of bahār "spice"). The mixture of finely ground spices is often used to season lamb or mutton, fish, beef, chicken and various soups. It is also used as a condiment. The composition of this spice blend can vary considerably based on the region it is found in.
Profile: Sweet, Warm, Earthy, Smokey.
Serving Suggestions: Often added to frying onions to release its fullest flavour, baharat spice is a superb lamb rub. It's also well suited to seasoning kofta, chicken kebabs, and vegetables.
Fun facts: Just as South Asia has garam masala and North Africa has ras el hanout, the Middle East's all-purpose spice blend is baharat (bahar meaning spice in Arabic).
