Alfonso Olives

Region: Peru

Description:  The Alfonso olive is a stunning fair-sized meaty olive with a vibrant purple colour. Our Alfonso olives come from Peru, but this variety is also grown in Chile and Argentina. It was originally brought over to South America by the Spaniards in the mid 1500s. The olives are somewhat firm, but still soft, meaty, and supple. They are great to snack on and work well as an appetizer, or with charcuterie boards and various dishes and stews. These olives are traditionally brine-cured in red wine and vinegar, resulting in a distinguishable, somewhat sour flavour, with a hint of bitterness. It is the red wine that also imparts their famous purple colour. These olives contain pits.

Ingredients: Natural Black olives, water, salt, citric acid, potassium sorbate.
